Frequently asked questions
I reinstalled the app and lost my squad.
CrestoFituses anonymous authentication — there is no account to sign back into. The app stores its identity in the iOS Keychain. If the Keychain entry is gone (a clean install on a new device, a reset of all settings, or a corrupted backup), the app generates a fresh identity and your previous squad does not see you anymore. The simplest fix is to leave the old squad and form or join a new one with your friends. There is no cross-device recovery on the roadmap— iCloud sync was considered and explicitly dropped in favor of zero-PII as a load-bearing privacy claim.
My HealthKit data is not showing up.
Open the iOS Settings app → Apple Health → Data Access & Devices → CrestoFit, and confirm the read permissions you intended to grant are turned on. If you previously denied access, iOS does not re-prompt — you have to enable it manually here. Once the toggles are on, force-quit and reopen CrestoFit and the Dashboard will pull fresh values.
How does the Apple Watch app work?
Install CrestoFiton your paired Apple Watch the same way you would any iPhone-companion watch app — from the Watch app on your iPhone, or via the App Store on the watch. The watch shows your tier crest (the same Shield, Orb, or Hex shape you picked on the iPhone) with the cyan-to-violet XP arc, your level, your streak, and today’s tiles. Tap Plans to start one of your top three custom plans from the wrist; the workout writes back to Apple Health, which the iPhone imports and credits with XP, quests, streaks, and a rank-up celebration if applicable. Four complications (Circular, Corner, Rectangular, Inline) are available in every modern watch face family. The watch is paired-only; it requires your iPhone running CrestoFitand watchOS 26 or later.
How do I share a workout plan with a friend?
From the plan’s detail screen, tap the “…” menu and choose Export — this creates a .crestofitfile you can share via AirDrop, Messages, email, or the Files app. Recipients tap the file to import it, either from their share sheet or from the Workouts hub’s Import menu. .crestofitis plain JSON, so it is portable and inspectable. Bundled library plans are excluded from the export — every install ships with the same starter library, so sharing a bundled plan would be redundant.
How do I build my Pantry?
The Meals tab’s Browse pantry tile opens a sheet with ~50 USDA-referenced common foods spanning Indian and Western cuisines. Tap +on any row to clone it into your personal Pantry — you can then edit the portion, brand, photo, or macros. Add your own food creates a custom row from scratch. Pantry items can be combined into named meals (for example, “Monday breakfast”) that log in one tap. There is no remote calorie database, no barcode scanner, and no auto-classifier — your food vocabulary is yours.
How do squads work?
Open the Squad tab. Forge a squad creates a new squad with a 6-character invite code. Have a code joins an existing squad. Owners can rotate the invite code, kick a member, or disband the squad entirely; members can leave at any time. Maximum size is 8. Only your handle, XP, level, tier, and streak are shared with the squad — never your weight, meals, or any HealthKit value. See the Privacy Policy for the full field list.
How do I leave or disband my squad?
Open the Squad tab. As a member, scroll to the bottom and tap “Leave squad.” As an owner, the same button reads “Disband squad” and removes the squad entirely; every member keeps their individual progression.
How do I delete my data?
Open Settings → Data → Delete my data. This removes you from any squad you belong to, deletes your record from our cloud database, deletes your anonymous identity from the server, wipes all local logs, profile, custom quests, and preferences, and returns you to onboarding with a fresh identity.
Will my data sync to a new iPhone?
Local data (logs, custom quests, custom workout plans, meal photos, your Pantry) lives on the device that created it. There is no cross-device recovery on the roadmap — iCloud sync was considered and explicitly dropped to keep zero-PII a load-bearing claim. The migration paths that do exist: export your custom workout plans as .crestofit files from the plan detail menu, re-create your Pantry from the bundled library on the new device, and re-join your squad with the invite code.
How do I use Siri with CrestoFit?
CrestoFitships ten Siri shortcuts — for example, “Log 74 kilos”, “Log 250 ml of water”, “What is my streak?”, and “Today’s digest”. They run silently without opening the app, and the result is logged through the same XP / quest / streak path as an in-app log. iOS adds them to your Shortcuts app the first time you invoke each one.
The Home Screen widget is blank.
Long-press the widget → Edit Widget, and pick the three stats you want shown (steps, water, XP, sleep, mood, or workout). The widget refreshes after each log; if it looks frozen for a long time, force-quit the app once and the next log will publish a fresh snapshot.
The active workout Live Activity isn't showing.
Live Activities require the iOS “Live Activities” toggle to be on in iOS Settings → CrestoFit. If it's off, active workouts run normally inside the app but skip the Lock Screen / Dynamic Island card.
I found a bug. How can I help?
Email developer.crestofit@gmail.com with:
- A short description of what happened and what you expected
- The version and build number from Settings → About → Version
- Your iPhone model and iOS version (Settings → General → About)
- A screenshot or screen recording, if relevant
Anonymous crash reports are sent automatically when the app crashes (see Privacy Policy for details), so the most useful thing you can add is the steps that reliably trigger the bug.
System requirements
- iPhone with iOS 26.1 or later
- Apple Health enabled if you want vitals (weight, steps, sleep, heart rate, workouts) reflected in the app
- No account, no email, no sign-in — you can use CrestoFit immediately on first launch
Privacy and terms
Read the Privacy Policy for what data CrestoFit reads, what we send to our servers, and what we never collect. The Terms of Service covers acceptable use and liability.
